Dean’s Lecture: The Coming Era of Medicine, Health and Public Health
The first installment of the 135th Anniversary Dean’s Lecture Series was successfully held on 12 May 2022, attended in person and through live broadcast by over three hundred participants. The lecture was delivered by Professor Wang Chen, President of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College.
Entitled “The Coming Era of Medicine, Health and Public Health”, Professor Wang examined the interwoven nature of medicine, health, and public health with economics, national security, and politics. The lecture was followed by a panel discussion featuring Dr Bernhard Schwartländer, Global Health Envoy, German Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms Priscilla Wong, Chairman, HKU Council, and Professor Zheng Zhi-Jie, Director, China Country Office, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The panel was moderated by Professor Gabriel Leung, Dean of Medicine.
